Expertises

For some years now, the title of judicial expert has been protected. Only sworn experts can use this title. However, it is usual to use the title of judicial expert for expertises ordered by a court and private expert for missions mandated by a party but without the control of a judge. A court expert may accept a private expert assignment. Judicial experts adhere to a strict code of deontology that administers conflicts of interest. A judicial expert is subject to the same conditions for recusal as a judge.
